The Dickson Performing Arts Center

The Dickson Performing Arts Center, lead by a board of community volunteers, maintains an ongoing and active presence in the Teller County arts community.  The purpose of the group is to raise money and administer funds for the promotion of the performing arts and the enhancement of performing arts facilities to benefit the community at large, the City of Woodland Park and the Woodland Park School District RE-2.

With a strong belief in collaboration, Dickson volunteers meet on an ongoing basis with local government leaders and arts organizations to determine local needs and facilitate increased access to arts facilities and programs.  Current project partners include:  the City of Woodland Park and the Downtown Development Authority, Woodland Park School District RE-2, the Mountain Arts Council, and the Colorado Festival of World Theatre.

The Dickson board meets periodically throughout the year; all board meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.  For a schedule of upcoming meetings or information on how to become involved, contact the Dickson Performing Arts Center.

The Community Funding Program

Enhancing its role in supporting performing arts in Teller County, the Dickson Performing Arts Center, established the Community Funding Program in early 2002.  Utilizing monies generated from investments and special events to provide sponsorship support to arts organizations whose programs encourage public participation in the performing arts in Teller County, support is available on an annual basis to Teller County 501(c)(3) arts organizations and appropriate local government entities to assist in the development and implementation of performing arts events and educational activities.  Past recipients include:  the Pikes Peak Jazz Festival; the Ute Pass Symphony Guild – Concert Above the Clouds; and the Hausmusik, Mountain Acoustic Music Association, Colorado Festival of World Theatre, Woodland Park Wind Symphony, and the Jr. Woodland Players.  Contact the Dickson Performing Arts Center for more information on Community Funding deadlines.

The Marta Dickson Scholarship Fund

In 2002, the Marta Dickson Scholarship Fund – founded in memory of longtime Woodland Park music teacher Marta Dickson – merged with the Dickson Performing Arts Center Community Funding Program.  Each year, the Fund provides  four $500 scholarships to Woodland Park High School seniors, with priority given to those who plan to continue in the field of music in the college or university setting.   For application information, contact the Woodland Park High School counseling office.
