Sounds of the Season Holiday Home Tour Celebrates Its Seventh Year in Woodland Park on December 3-4

The seventh annual Sounds of the Season Holiday Home Tour is set for December 3-4, 2005 in Woodland Park .  The tour is a project of The Dickson Performing Arts Center, Inc. and features six festively decorated homes with live music by local area musicians of all ages.  Register for door prizes, enjoy refreshments, and visit our boutique.  Tickets are available in Woodland Park from Alpine Auto Center, Blue Heron Books, City Market,  Dinosaur Resource Center, Edge Salon, Hair Studio West, JAVA…the Hut, Off the Back Porch, Park State Bank & Trust, Town & Country Resort, Vectra Bank, Williams Brothers Furniture, Woodland Beauty Salon, Woodland Floral, Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce, and all Woodland Park RE-2 Schools; in Florissant from Park State Bank & Trust; in Divide from Venture Foods; and in Colorado Springs from Aba Tina and Cheyenne Leathers Splurge Boutique. Advance adult tickets can be purchased from any outlet for $12 and are available at each home for $15.  Student tickets are $7. 

The Dickson Performing Arts Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to assisting present and future generations of Woodland Park and the Ute Pass region develop, enjoy and share their talents in the performing arts. The Marta Burg Dickson Music Scholarship Fund, various community groups that emphasis the performing arts, and the recently completed Dickson Auditorium are recipients of funds raised by the organization.

Woodland Park High School Graduates Receive Local Music Scholarships

The Dickson Performing Arts Center and Marta Burg Dickson Scholarship Fund has announced the award of four scholarships to 2005 Woodland Park High School Graduates:  Allison K. Carrick; Matthew T. McMahan; Laura E. Steen; and, Lindsey A. Szabelski were each provided $500 to assist college related expenses as they continue their academic education and special interest in the performing arts.

The Marta Dickson Scholarship Fund was established in April, 1997 in memory of Woodland Park music teacher Marta Burg Dickson.  Dickson was a 25-year member of the Woodland Park School District RE-2 teaching staff, and a dedicated member of the Teller County arts community.  Since its inception, the Fund has distributed over $12,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates.  Funding for scholarships is generated through memorial gifts and fundraising through the Sounds of the Season Holiday Home Tour each December.

The Dickson Performing Arts Center, Inc. Announces 2005 Funding to Community Arts Programs

The Dickson Performing Arts Center, Inc. board of directors has announced the funding of six community arts organizations through the Dickson Community Funding Program.  Funding was awarded to: the Mountain Acoustic Association - $750 to sponsor the 2005 MAMA concert series; the Woodland Park Wind Symphony - $500 for general operating support; the Jr. Woodland Players - $1,000 to support the 2005 Kids Summer Theatre Camp; the Ute Pass Symphony Guild - $1,000 to support the 2005 Concert Above the Clouds; the Colorado Festival of World Theatre - $1,000 to sponsor a Woodland Park High School student’s participation in the 2005 Festivals Apprenticeship program; and Hausmusik - Woodland Park  - $750 to sponsor the Hausmusik annual music series  These grants are in addition to $1,881 awarded to the Marta Dickson Scholarship Fund, providing financial assistance to Woodland Park High School seniors with priority given to those who plan to continue in the field of music in the college or university setting. 

Through the Dickson Community Funding Program, performing arts organizations may request up to $1,000 in support for programs or projects that encourage public participation in the arts in Teller County .  Monies for the Dickson Community Funding Program have accrued through investment of Dickson Performing Arts Center assets and a variety of community-wide special events.  The Community Grant Program will begin its next funding cycle next year, with applications due March 31, 2006 .

Be a part of the holiday tradition in Woodland Park this Christmas!  Celebrate with us by attending our sixth Sounds of the Season Holiday Home Tour December 4-5, 2004.  A project of the Dickson Performing Arts Center, the Tour will feature six festively decorated mountain homes and live music by local area musicians of all ages. Win prizes in the drawings, enjoy refreshments, visit our boutique and featured artists.  Advance tickets will be available from area businesses including Alpine Auto Center, Backyard Gallery, Blue Heron Books, City Market, Drummer Tweeds, JAVA…the Hut, Park State Bank, Vectra Bank, Williams Brothers Furniture, Woodland Beauty Salon, Woodland Floral, Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce, and all Woodland Park RE-2 Schools.  The advanced ticket price is $ 12.00.  Tickets will also be available at each home for $ 15.00.   A student ticket is $ 7.00.   

Founded as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1998, Dickson Performing Arts Center, Inc. is a collaborative effort of Teller County community leaders, the City of Woodland Park, and Woodland Park School District RE-2 dedicated to improving access to arts in the Ute Pass/Teller County area.  The purpose of the group is to raise money and administer funds for the promotion of the performing arts and the enhancement of performing arts facilities to benefit the community at large, the City of Woodland Park and the Woodland Park School District RE-2.
