Building on the dream...
Founded as an IRS 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization in 1998, the Dickson
Performing Arts Center is a catalyst for supporting a variety
of performing arts projects in Teller County, including arts
facility expansions in the area, and in providing these facilities
and local arts organizations with ongoing monetary support.
In 1998, the students of Woodland Park High School's Key
Club (a teen component of Kiwanis International) expressed a
dream: to have permanent performing arts facility to enhance
their now limited ability to grow and learn as young artists.
In support of this dream, Dickson Performing Arts Center began
its work bringing the community together to enhance arts
opportunities in Teller County.
Today,
the purpose of Dickson Performing Arts Center is to raise
money and administer funds for the promotion of the performing
arts and the enhancement of facilities provided for this
purpose to benefit the community at large, the City of
Woodland Park and the Woodland Park School District RE-2,
including providing ongoing
support of the recently completed Dickson Auditorium, a beautiful 450 seat
performing arts facility at the Woodland Park High School. The new Dickson Auditorium will provide a space for
student and community productions for years to come.
